had a rear tire blowout a couple weeks back while on a backroad (20 minutes from the house). managed to come to a controlled stop and get the bike off the road. had 3 cars go wizzing by (i was just grateful they saw my brake lights and didn't plow into me). just as i was pushing the bike onto the closest available off-road spot 3 riders came around the curve going the opposite way and stopped to help (they were on their way to a biker's church function).
they loaned me a cell phone (couldn't reach anyone) and then gave me a lift to my house. they saw the pickup and offered to ride back and help me trailer the bike (even though they had other places to be). long story short these guys turned my lousy day into a minor inconvenience.
a profound thanks to all riders who stop to help the stranded. it really does make the world a better place. t..
